Judge Bynum receives Houston LGBTQ+ Political Caucus endorsement

Judge Bynum is proud to have received the endorsement of the Houston LGBTQ+ Political Caucus, the oldest LGBTQ+ civil rights organization in the South.

“Growing up in the Montrose neighborhood in the middle of the AIDS crisis, many of my friends and neighbors were gay and many were part of The Caucus. My political development is so intertwined with The Caucus’ work over the decades. I grew up admiring Ray Hill and the extreme dedication and resilience of the LGBTQ community here in Houston. So many major civil rights victories began in Houston, from City of Houston v. Hill to Lawrence v. Texas.

“I’m proud to stand on the shoulders of giants in this community and say we also accomplished a major civil rights victory here in Houston with the Odonnell bail litigation — eliminating the use of money bail to incarcerate the most vulnerable in our community just because they couldn’t afford to pay to get out.

“I send my deepest thanks to the members of the LGBTQ+ Political Caucus for your confidence and support. I look forward to working with you to preserve these important gains and build on them in the future.”
